What is a Bare Metal dedicated server?
A Bare Metal plan reserves a whole physical server for your workload alone. Unlike a VPS or cloud instance, nobody else's virtual machines share that hardware: the CPU cores, RAM and local disks are entirely yours. This matters for workloads that need consistent performance, full hardware-level control (custom kernels, hypervisors, specific RAID configurations) or compliance requirements that rule out shared infrastructure. CPU, memory, storage, network and available add-ons depend on the plan and datacenter you choose from Silurian's current catalogue.

Choosing a plan and datacenter
Every plan on the page shows current availability and pricing for each datacenter location, refreshed live. A configuration you see is not yet reserved for you: Silurian checks it again right before your order is created, and once more during provisioning, so you never pay for a configuration that became unavailable in the meantime. You order by plan name and location - it's as simple as choosing a plan from the page, with no technical reference numbers to track yourself.
How ordering and provisioning actually work
Pick one available location and the complete set of memory, disk, network, IP and other options your workload needs, then add the server to your cart. Paying for the order does not instantly rack a server on your behalf. Instead, Silurian runs an order review that checks stock and current pricing, confirms your billing details, and screens for fraud, abuse and compliance signals. Once it clears, the server is built and the delivered hardware, network and access details must be checked against the order before production use.
Administration and support: what's included
Every order specifies one of three administration levels, and it is worth checking which one you bought before you need support:
- Unmanaged (root handover): you get full root/administrator access from day one. Silurian handles the physical hardware and network; everything running on the operating system - updates, security, your application - is on you.
- Delegated administration: Silurian's support team performs specific agreed administrative tasks on your server in addition to the hardware/network layer.
- Fully managed: Silurian handles operating-system updates, monitoring, security hardening and more, exactly as scoped in your order.
- Hardware failures and network incidents are always handled directly by Silurian's support team, regardless of administration level.
Backups and disaster recovery
RAID, redundant power supplies and an uptime SLA protect you against hardware failure - they do not protect you against deleted files, ransomware or a bad deployment. If your order includes backup capacity, it is not active by default: you (or Silurian, if contracted to do so) still need to turn it on and configure what gets backed up and how often. Before you rely on any backup: confirm what retention period applies, whether copies are stored off-server, and what your realistic recovery time would be if you needed to restore today. - A backup you have never test-restored is not a backup you can trust in an emergency.
- Keep at least one copy off the server itself - a local snapshot does not help if the whole machine is lost.
Acceptable use and compliance
You are responsible for what runs on your server: lawful use, who has access, the content you host and responding promptly to abuse reports or security notices. Silurian can investigate, restrict or suspend a server to contain a security compromise, stop prohibited activity, or address non-payment or legal risk - always as a last resort and proportionate to the issue. If your planned use is higher-risk (bulk outbound email, public-facing services handling sensitive data, high-bandwidth applications), tell us before ordering so we can confirm the right network, logging and incident-response setup in advance.
Pricing, tax and renewals
Listed prices are net of tax, shown in your contract currency, and can include a one-off setup fee alongside the recurring monthly amount plus any optional extras you select. Your subscription renews on the commercial terms agreed when you ordered: a price change never silently changes an order you have already placed - you are notified in advance, following the applicable notice period, before any renewal price changes.
